The West is trying to distort the true information about the use of the newest medium-range Oreshnik missile system and present it as some kind of aggressive move. This was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova on Wednesday, November 27, on the air ofRadio Sputnik.

According to her, for some people the use of the Russian Oreshnik missile system became a reason for "absolute panic", while others regarded this moment as a reason to distort information, saying that Moscow allegedly threatens and pursues an aggressive line, rather than letting the West know that plans against Russia will not be realized.

On the same day, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said that Russian President Vladimir Putin 's statements and Russia's use of the latest weaponry, including the Oreshnik medium-range missile, laid the potential for negotiations on Ukraine.

Earlier, on November 26, following an emergency meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council at the ambassadorial level, it became known that NATO will continue to support Ukraine even after Russia uses its newest medium-range missile system, the Oreshnik ballistic missile.

Prior to that, on November 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin reported that Ukraine had used Western long-range weapons against Russia , which caused the regional conflict to acquire elements of a global one. He also said that the test of the ballistic missile "Oreshnik" took place in combat conditions.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by the Russian president on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
