The team of US President-elect Donald Trump is discussing the possibility of direct talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. This was stated by Reuters on November 26.

According to the publication, Trump supporters hope that this diplomatic step can reduce the risk of armed conflict.

"Several people on Trump's team now see that Trump's direct approach to build on existing relations is likely to break the ice in relations with Kim," Reuters wrote, citing knowledgeable sources.

Earlier, on August 12, Trump said in an interview with US billionaire Ilon Musk that the leaders of Russia, China and the DPRK are the best at what they do.

Prior to that, in July, Trump said that if re-elected, he intends to mend relations between Washington and Pyongyang.

On June 28, during a debate with incumbent U.S. leader Joe Biden, Trump said that Russia, China and North Korea would not be enemies of the United States under a "reasonable president."
