The court in Chelyabinsk appointed 52-year-old Vladimir Cheskidov, accused of kidnapping two people and murder, compulsory treatment. This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation on Wednesday, November 27.

It is established that the man kidnapped a woman (identity unknown) on one of the days from January 2008 to August 2009, and in April 2011 killed her by inflicting multiple blows to the head. After the murder, he dismembered the body and hid the remains. In 2009, he abducted another woman and held her for 13 years, using violence. The victim was only able to escape last July when Cheskidov was in a medical facility.

"Based on the conclusions of the inpatient complex forensic sexological-psychiatric examination conducted in a medical institution, the figure suffered and is currently suffering from a mental illness and did not realize the actual nature and public danger of his actions and could not be guided by them," the agency said in a statement in its Telegram channel.

The court appointed the man compulsory treatment in a specialized clinic.

In July 2023, the Department of Investigative Committee of Russia in the Chelyabinsk region reported that the resident of the village of Smolino since 2009 14 years forcibly kept in his house kidnapped girl. It also turned out that the kidnapper was involved in the murder in 2011 of another girl, whose remains were found in his house.

In the summer of 2023, the intruder's mental illness worsened amid a binge. His mother called medics, who took the man away for treatment. The kidnapper did not have time to close the door to his victim's room, and the captive was able to escape when the house was empty. She made it to her sister, who called the police. On June 26, 2024, she testified in court.

On August 1, 2023, the Chelyabinsk Regional Court arrested Cheskidov. He was charged under three articles: paragraph "c" of part 2 of article 126 ("Kidnapping"), part 1 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder"), and paragraph "b" of part 2 of article 131 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Rape"). The charges of kidnapping were also brought against the detainee's mother Valentina, who lives with her son; the woman did not admit guilt.
