Moscow schoolchildren and students went on an Antarctic expedition

Moscow schoolchildren and students set off on an expedition to Antarctica. Nadezhda Kuranina, chairwoman of the "Movement of the First" in Moscow, told Izvestia on Wednesday, November 27, about the plans of the Moscow youth Antarctic expedition.
"We and the guys are going on a big expedition. Schoolchildren are heading with us, these are guys who are engaged in science. And students of Moscow colleges who will be responsible for the life support of our expedition, for our meals," she noted.
Children will also take part in assembling a large tent, where they will live during the expedition. An engineer is traveling with them, who will explain to the children the sequence of assembling the living module.
"If everything goes well, we will return on December 15, and hopefully with impressions and with the research conducted," summarized Kuranina.
Earlier, November 20, Deputy Mayor of the capital on social development Anastasia Rakova said that 13 schoolchildren and college students will go on the expedition. According to her, the students themselves showed this initiative. The expedition included eight schoolchildren and five college students.
The selection of the expedition participants consisted of five tests. The journey will begin on November 26 and will last until December 14. The whole expedition will take place under the guidance of Matvey Shparo, the director of the center of additional education "Laboratory of Travels", holder of the Order of Courage, and Ivan Smirnov, the head of research expeditions in the Arctic and Antarctic, candidate of biological sciences.
