Nutritionist Daria Rusanova has listed the products that strengthen immunity and protect against acute respiratory infections.

In a conversation with aif.ru on Tuesday, November 26, the specialist emphasized that the immunity is directly affected by the intestinal microbiota: the more diverse the composition of microflora, the better protection against diseases. For this purpose, the diet should include certain products.

First of all, the doctor recommended products containing probiotics: kefir, natural yogurt, sauerkraut, kimchi - Korean sauerkraut, miso, kombucha. Prebiotic foods - fruits, vegetables, herbs, legumes, mushrooms and whole grain products - are also essential. To protect against acute respiratory infections, the body also needs products with synbiotics - dairy products with prebiotics: oligosaccharides, inulin, fructooligosaccharides.

In addition, according to Rusanova, it is necessary to include in the diet products containing vitamin D and iron. These are fatty varieties of fish, eggs, cheese, liver, spinach and red meat, RT writes. Whole foods - poultry, fish, meat on the bone, whole-grain cereals - are also useful for strengthening immunity.

On November 14, gastroenterologist and therapist Nikita Kharlov said that ginger has antibacterial and antiviral effects. Kharlov added that it is better not to consume ginger on an empty stomach, because there may be an exacerbation of gastrointestinal diseases.

In October, therapist Lyudmila Lapa said that salt foot baths and compresses help in treating colds. She also recommended keeping milk and honey at home, notes 360.ru.

In September, Yana Shmeleva, a general practitioner at Vidnovsky hospital, advised eating foods with vitamin C to strengthen immunity. According to her, it helps immune cells to destroy viruses and bacteria. It is contained in citrus fruits, kiwi, mango, garlic, sorrel, parsley, cabbage, pepper and rose hips, Pravda.Ru writes.

Earlier, dental hygienist Natalia Savinova advised to change the toothbrush after an acute respiratory infection. According to her, this will prevent re-infection. Savinova reminded that a toothbrush can be used for a maximum of three months, writes NSN.
