Russia's largest banks are building their own data centers

Russian credit institutions have started building their own data processing centers (DPCs). The plans to create their own network of data centers were told to Izvestia by the T-Technology group. By 2027, they plan to complete the first stage of work there, then two points will start operating. By 2031 they will reach full capacity - 50 MW each.
Under the conditions of sanctions, the creation of their own centers allows banks to control data security, experts believe.
In each of the built data centers will be installed more than 100 thousand servers, shared in the organization. They added: the company will be among the top 5 market players in the corporate segment in terms of data center capacity, as well as T-Bank will be the first bank in the world to use in data centers the technology of hybrid cooling with direct free cooling (Direct Free Air Cooling), which will reduce energy consumption and negative impact on the environment.
The new network will be able to process and store data arising from serving more than 50 million customers, T-Technology Group said. It will support business expansion and the development of new areas, such as AI assistants for different areas of life. Own data center infrastructure will also allow the company to strengthen its position in the field of artificial intelligence, the company said.
According to the organization's forecasts, the construction of its own data centers will allow T-Technologies to save 26 billion rubles by 2030, and in the future the annual savings will amount to about 10 billion rubles due to the partial abandonment of expensive infrastructure rental and the combination of leased and own space.
