Modern French youth refuses sex, social networks are full of images of "ideal places" that do not exist in reality, and erotica is not necessarily nudity and physical contact. Director Audrey Couch told Izvestia.

Her "Emmanuelle" will be released on Russian screens on November 28. It seems that the audience was not ready for the picture.

"When it was first announced to work on the movie, it was in Cannes, and in the main role was announced Léa Seydoux. And even then, of course, the first thought of everyone was: well, clearly, it will be a stirring movie. The viewer will enjoy it. All this was at odds with how this project perceived me, and in general with what I shoot as a director, "- she said.

Perhaps if the movie had been called something other than "Emmanuelle," it would have been easier, Audrey Couch added.

"We're afraid of seeing ourselves for real, we're afraid of interacting with other people. In France it's become a huge problem in general. Young people are giving up sex. There's a revolution in our civilization: people don't want to touch each other anymore," the filmmaker concluded.

"As soon as you talk about sexuality, people start screaming."
