Thanksgiving in the US will be the busiest Thanksgiving Day for air carriers this year. It is expected that about 18 million Americans will go to celebrate in the coming days. The New York Post (NYP) reported on November 26.

"This will be the busiest Thanksgiving in terms of air travel. Fortunately, our staffing levels are also at their highest ever. We are prepared," said Transportation Security Administration (TSA) spokesman David Pekoske.

The TSA predicts Nov. 26 and 27 will be the busiest days. More than 3 million people will pass through terminals and security checkpoints.

The publication noted that despite Pekoske's optimism, who reports that the TSA plans to reduce wait times in line to 30 minutes, they risk increasing due to Federal Aviation Administration staff shortages, as well as airport employee strikes and poor weather conditions.

U.S. air carriers have been in crisis in recent months, affecting the U.S. economy among others. Boeing has had problems due to investigations into the causes of airplane crashes that have occurred recently.

In April, it was reported that a Boeing 737-800 airplane of the American airline Southwest Airlines had its right engine cladding destroyed during takeoff.

In January, an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 was forced to return to Portland airport after making an emergency landing due to a depressurization that ejected a door plug. The following day, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration announced the suspension of some Boeing 737 MAX 9 airplanes. This decision affected 171 airplanes.
