The German embassy in Russia has ruled out a meeting between Scholz and Putin

The meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is not considered now. This was stated to "Izvestia" by Ingo Niemann, head of the press service of the German Embassy in Moscow.
"Such a meeting is not being considered now," the diplomat said in response to a question about the likelihood of a personal meeting between Scholz and Putin.
In addition, Germany is not preparing for talks with the Russian Federation through the Foreign Ministry either, the German embassy in Moscow said.
"At present, there are no grounds for such contacts. In principle, only direct talks between Russia and Ukraine can lead to a just and lasting peace," Niemann said.
Scholz and Putin called for the first time in almost two years at the initiative of the German side on Nov. 15. During the conversation, the two sides discussed the conflict in Ukraine, as well as the conditions for its resolution.
