Lavrov points to possibilities for conflict resolution in Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said that the Ukrainian crisis is still very far from being resolved. He said this in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta on November 27.
"Judging by what is happening "on the battlefield", we are still very far from a political and diplomatic settlement of the Ukrainian crisis," the Russian foreign minister said.
According to him, the missile strikes deep into Russian territory were an "escalation step". All Moscow 's warnings that Russia would give an adequate response were ignored.
"No escalation on the part of the enemy will make us retreat from achieving the goals of the special military operation. To paraphrase Vladimir Putin's statement, we are ready for any development of events, but we always prefer to resolve disputed issues by peaceful means," Lavrov added.
The foreign minister noted that the root causes of the Ukrainian conflict should be eliminated. He said that they include "the creation of long-term threats to Russia's security in the western direction, including NATO's eastward expansion, as well as systematic violations by the Kiev regime of the rights of Russians and people who associate themselves with Russian and Russian culture and the Orthodox faith."
He also said that demilitarization and denazification, ensuring the non-aligned, neutral and nuclear-free status of the territories under the control of the Kiev regime "should become integral elements of the conflict settlement". The Russian Foreign Minister noted that the condition for any agreements would be the recognition of political and territorial realities enshrined in the Russian Constitution.
Earlier in the day, Lavrov pointed out that modern practices of neocolonialism are aimed at siphoning off the resources of Asian, African and Latin American countries for the sake of preserving the dominance of the West and maintaining a high standard of living for its population.
On November 26, the Russian Foreign Minister said at the 20th meeting of the Meeting of Heads of Security and Intelligence Services of the CIS member states that NATO's statements about possible preemptive strikes against Russia show the true intentions of the North Atlantic Alliance.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at a plenary session of the Valdai Club on November 7, called NATO the only remaining bloc in the world and "an outright anachronism." He noted that the alliance, which has lost its relevance, violates international norms and its own principles.
The West regularly stirs up hysteria among the citizens of its countries, warning of an allegedly imminent war with Russia. The Russian leader has repeatedly stated that nothing of the sort is in the country's plans.
