Two Primorye residents have been charged with a 28-year-old murder

Investigators of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation in Primorsky Krai have charged two men with murder committed 28 years ago. This is reported in the Telegram-channel of the department on November 27.

Evgeny Cherkasov and Alexei Kunichenko are accused under Art. 102 of the Criminal Code of the Russian FederationSR ("Intentional murder under aggravating circumstances").

"According to the investigation, in the fall of 1996, the defendants decided to illegally obtain from the victim monetary compensation for causing bodily harm to one of them. Having received a refusal to pay the money, the accused, being in a state of alcoholic intoxication, committed the murder of their acquaintance. After committing the crime, the body was taken out of the apartment and hidden not far from the scene of the crime," - stated in the message of the department.

Investigators identified witnesses to the crime, who gave a description of the accused. However, the defendants hid from the preliminary investigation, so the criminal case was suspended.

As a result of operative-search activities, Alexei Kunichenko and Yevgeny Cherkasov were detained in accordance with Art. 91 of the Criminal Procedural Code of the Russian Federation ("Grounds for detention of a suspect").

The defendants in the case will be taken into custody, the relevant petitions have been sent to court.

The day before, two residents of Kazan were accused of murder 25 years ago. It is noted that the murder took place in the capital of Tatarstan in the winter of 1999. It was found that a year earlier two men, not wanting to give a local businessman $8.5 thousand for the car bought from him, decided to kill him.

Before that, on November 13, law enforcers in Crimea also solved the murder of a businessman, committed in February 1999. According to the source of "Izvestia", the criminal case on the fact of the incident was initiated in 2014. In November 2024, the involvement of three citizens in the crime was established. Among them, two men and one woman. The men are currently serving life sentences for murder and robbery, while the woman, who served seven years in prison for drugs and theft, is listed as dead.
