The Italian authorities have started preparing a new, 10th military aid package for Ukraine, the head of the Italian Foreign Ministry, Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani, has said. This was reported by Reuters on November 26.

"The [Italian] Defense Ministry is working to see what can be sent. There is no waste of time on Italy's part in this. I don't know when it will be signed. The [defense] ministry is working on it for a long time," Tajani told a news conference following a meeting of the G7 foreign ministers.

Earlier, on November 25, the Italian Foreign Ministry said that it had decided not to send military personnel to Ukraine. According to Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, Italy will not send any military personnel to Ukraine.

On that day, Le Monde reported about the renewed discussions in Europe about sending troops to Ukraine. According to the newspaper, these discussions have even "strengthened" in recent weeks, particularly thanks to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's visit to France on Nov. 11.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to defend Donbas, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
