Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati called on the international community to immediately halt Israeli aggression and help secure a ceasefire.

"The strikes on Beirut in particular prove the hatred of the enemy. The international community must act quickly to stop this aggression and immediately implement a ceasefire," he wrote on social network X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, November 26.

The politician also noted that the residents of the Lebanese capital have always borne a heavy burden for the sake of their country, and today they had to endure a lot.

Earlier in the day, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) struck 20 sites in Beirut linked to the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah.

Prior to that, on Nov. 24, the Lebanese movement launched a rocket attack on the Israeli Glilot base in the suburbs of Tel Aviv, as well as a number of other bases. The Israeli army said the same day that 30 rockets were fired from Lebanese territory. It was also reported at the time that strikes on various parts of Lebanon on November 23 killed 84 people and wounded more than 200.

The hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah escalated in mid-September when thousands of people, including employees of the movement, were injured when pagers and other communication devices exploded in Lebanon. The country blamed Tel Aviv for what happened. Since then, Israel has continued to eliminate the leadership of the Shiite movement and strike Lebanese territory.

The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian radical movement Hamas subjected the territory of Israel to a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes.
