HC "Avangard" beat "Metallurg" on a shootout with the score 2:1

Omsk hockey club (HC) "Avangard" in a shootout victory over the current holder of the Gagarin Cup HC "Metallurg" from Magnitogorsk with a score of 2:1. The game was held on November 26 in Magnitogorsk within the regular championship of the Continental Hockey League (KHL).

Dmitry Silantiev scored the only puck for Metallurg on 16 minutes, after which the hosts led the entire game with a minimal advantage. With just 37 seconds left in overtime, Avangard was helped by right wing Nail Yakupov. He put his stick on the slot and after a cross from American international Reid Bouchette, the score was 1-1.

Overtime, held at the advantage of Magnitogorsk resident, also did not reveal the strongest. In the subsequent shootout, Bushe again made the decisive shot, bringing Omsk to victory.

Thus, "Avangard", having scored 28 points, won a third consecutive victory and is in eighth place in the Eastern Conference of the KHL. "Metallurg" with 34 points remains on the fifth line, adds "Sport-Express".

Before that, on November 14, Yaroslavl hockey club "Lokomotiv" lost to CSKA Moscow with a score of 2:0 in the regular season match of the Fonbet - Continental Hockey League. The KHL leader Lokomotiv lost for the first time in a month in a match at the CSKA Arena in Moscow.

After, on November 18, the KHL announced the launch of the hockey championship in a new format "3x3". It was noted that the first season of the tournament will involve eight teams from three countries - Omsk "Avangard", Kazan "Ak Bars", Magnitogorsk "Metallurg", Ufa "Salavat Yulaev", Novosibirsk "Sibir" and Chelyabinsk "Traktor", as well as Astana "Barys" and Minsk "Dinamo". The regular championship will last until June 2025, 312 matches will be played.
