Israel attacked 20 targets linked to the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah in Beirut. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported on November 26.

"The IDF struck 20 <...> reconnoitered Hezbollah targets in the Beirut area. The attacks include 13 targets in the Dahya neighborhood, a key Hezbollah stronghold in Beirut," the Israeli army said in its Telegram channel.

Seven other targets attacked belong to the Shiite movement's financial system, including the headquarters, vaults and other infrastructure of the Al-Qard Al-Hassan Association organization, where Hezbollah stores its monetary assets, according to the IDF.

Before the shelling, the IDF's Arabic-speaking spokesman Avichai Edrai, for his part, published a map of Beirut neighborhoods with 20 points of planned strikes on his X social networking page (formerly Twitter). He asked the civilian population to distance themselves from these buildings by at least 500 meters.

Earlier, on November 24, the Lebanese movement launched a rocket attack on the Israeli Glilot base in the suburbs of Tel Aviv. Hezbollah also attacked the Sharag military bases in the city of Acre, Dado in northern Israel, and Berea, the main base of Israel's air and missile defense (air and missile defense).

On the same day, the IDF reported that strikes on different parts of Lebanon on Nov. 23 killed 84 people and wounded 213 others. The Israeli army claimed 30 rockets fired from Lebanon into Israel. In addition, on November 23, Hezbollah fired about 80 shells at Israeli territory.

Prior to that, on November 20, the IDF reported that the Israeli Air Force eliminated two field commanders of the Shiite movement in the coastal areas of Lebanon by air strikes.

The escalation of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah came after the events of September 17 and 18, when thousands of people, including employees of the movement, were injured when pagers and other communication devices exploded in Lebanon. The country blamed Tel Aviv for what happened. Since then, Israel has continued to eliminate the leadership of the Shiite movement and strike Lebanese territory.

The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian radical movement Hamas subjected the territory of Israel to a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes.
