Urologist doctor told about the causes of abdominal pain in men

In men, abdominal pain can be caused by various factors, including diseases of digestive organs and genitourinary system, Karen Mkrtchyan, candidate of medical sciences, urologist, surgeon of JSC "Medicine" (clinic of academician Roitberg), told "Izvestia" on November 28.
According to him, experts advise to pay attention to the localization of pain, its intensity and accompanying symptoms.
"Pain in the lower abdomen in men can signal prostate inflammation or bladder infections. These diseases are often accompanied by frequent urges to urinate, sharpness, lower back pain and even chills. Such symptoms require examination by a urologist," Mkrtchyan emphasized.
Another possible cause is intestinal disorders, the surgeon added. For example, inflammation of the appendix - appendicitis - in men starts with pain near the navel, which then shifts to the lower right part of the abdomen. If the pain in the right side is acute and unrelenting, immediate medical attention is required.
"Possible kidney problems such as renal colic or inflammation should not be ignored either. In this case, the pain will be sharp, sharp, radiating to the lower back and groin, and may be accompanied by fever and urges to urinate," Mkrtchyan said.
The urologist noted that testicular torsion is also accompanied by sharp pain in the lower abdomen and groin. In this case, without timely intervention, tissue necrosis may begin.
"If the pain lasts more than six hours or is accompanied by vomiting and fever, it is a reason to urgently contact a doctor," - concluded the expert.
Earlier, on November 19, the doctor-gastroenterologist "SM-Clinica" Valeria Lomova told "Izvestia" that the most negative impact on the liver has alcohol, which destroys cells - hepatocytes. Regular alcohol consumption threatens such dangerous complications as fibrosis and cirrhosis of the liver.
