Nina Grebeshkova, Honored Artist of Russia, wife and main muse of film director Leonid Gaidai, was born on November 29, 1930 in a working family in Moscow. Her father worked as a painter, and her mother was a dressmaker. The actress was the third child in the family, she still has two older brothers Nikolai and Valentin.
At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, her father went to the front, and Nina, along with her mother and brothers were evacuated to the village of Surmino near Penza. There the future star of the Soviet cinema went to the third grade, cherishing the dream after the war to enter the pedagogical institute and become a teacher.
After returning to Moscow, she met the famous poet Vladimir Lugovsky, who advised her to try her hand at acting. The acquaintance took place thanks to his daughter Masha, with whom Grebeshkova studied in high school. The girl was going to enter the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (now the All-Russian State University of Cinematography named after Gerasimov, VGIK). The poet, impressed by Nina's masterful reading of poems, persuaded her to keep her daughter company.
The competition numbered more than a hundred people for a place. The artist passed the entrance examinations at the first attempt. Not even starting to study, Grebeshkova received a small role in the movie Konstantin Yudin "Brave People", released in 1950. And four years later, just graduating from college, starred in Ivan Pyryev's film "Test of Fidelity", where her partners were Marina Ladynina and Sergei Romodanov.
During her student years, Grebeshkova began a romance with Leonid Gaidai, who studied at the directing department of VGIK and was older than her by seven years. Then he was not known to anyone, while Nina heard promising budding actress. The lovers married in 1953, living in marriage for more than 40 years.
Since 1955, Gaidai worked as a director at the film studio "Mosfilm". Once married, Grebeshkova fully devoted herself to her husband: engaged in the house, so that he could realize his talent, and helped to choose actresses for leading roles. And after the birth of their only daughter Oksana focused on motherhood. Later, Oksana became an economist, married and gave her parents a granddaughter Olya.
For the first time in the picture of the spouse of the artist starred in the early 60's. However, great success came to her after the role of a doctor in the comedy "The Caucasian Captive". Since then, she was involved in almost all of the director's films. First of all Grebeshkova remembered for the roles of wives of the main characters in the films "Diamond Hand" and "Twelve Chairs". Then there were pictures "Can not be!", "Sportloto-82", "Private Detective, or operation "Cooperation". The only masterpiece of Gaidai, which was not Grebeshkova, - "Ivan Vasilyevich changes profession".
The last joint work of the spouses was a comedy "On Deribasovskaya good weather, or Brighton Beach again it rains". The movie was released in 1992, and a year later the director was not. He died at the 71st year of life in a Moscow hospital as a result of illness.
After the bereavement, Grebeshkova continued to act in movies, not refusing even small roles. Viewers can see her in the TV series "Kamenskaya", "Viola Tarakanova", "Dasha Vasilyeva" and a cameo in the movie "Legend #17" about the legendary Soviet hockey player Valery Kharlamov.
On the threshold of her 90th birthday, the actress starred in the TV series "Contraband 2". To date, this is the last work with her participation. Currently, the artist lives outside the city, where she is engaged in the garden. At the end of November, Nina Grebeshkova will celebrate her 94th birthday.
