Icebreaker Nevskaya Zastava is ready for winter navigation in St. Petersburg

Emergency rescue tugboat-icebreaker "Nevskaya Zastava" has been prepared for winter navigation in St. Petersburg. Specialists of the Kanonersky Shipyard have completed repair of propellers and preventive inspection of propeller steering columns, TV channel "78" reports on Tuesday, November 26.

The vessel is equipped with two propeller steering columns, which provide the necessary maneuverability on the river. The total power of the two main engines is 3.6 thousand hp, said the city committee on environmental management.

As noted in Smolny, after completion of repair the icebreaker returned to the place of permanent basing. It is fully ready to fulfill the tasks of ensuring environmental safety and responding to emergencies.

Earlier in November "Izvestia" wrote that in 2025 the Navy will include a combat icebreaker "Ivan Papanin". It is capable of participating in rescue operations and cargo delivery.
