- The State Duma pointed to the West's understanding of the critical escalation of the conflict in Ukraine

The West realizes that there is nowhere else to escalate the conflict in Ukraine, while Kiev continues to escalate the situation. The first deputy chairman of the Russian State Duma's defense committee, Aleksey Zhuravlev, pointed this out in a conversation with Izvestiya on 26 November.
The day before, the head of the UK Defense Ministry, John Healey, said that the Ukrainian conflict had entered a critical phase, which required NATO members to strengthen their own defenses. The British official also emphasized that it is necessary to double the support to Kiev.
"Of course, the strike by the Russian "Oreshnik" did not go unnoticed for the West, especially for those who understand something about modern weaponry. There is nowhere to escalate further <...>. Only the Kiev regime is raging, but in principle, it has already embarked on a suicidal path, where it is trying to drag more Western countries after it," Zhuravlev commented.
He also noted that in Europe and the United States can continue to be brave, doubt that Russia has really used "Oreshnik" or remain silent, like the American leader Joe Biden. However, the lawmaker believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin 's message has been interpreted correctly in the West.
Prior to that, on November 21, Putin reported that Ukraine had used Western long-range weapons against Russia , causing the regional conflict to acquire elements of a global conflict. He also revealed that one of Russia's newest medium-range missile systems, the Oreshnik ballistic missile, had been tested under combat conditions.
Then, on November 24, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius pointed to Russia's superiority over the European Union in the production of projectiles. According to him, the Russian defense-industrial complex (DIC) produces as many shells in three months as all EU countries do in a year.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by the Russian president on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
