Finexpert named ways to save money on the purchase of MTPL insurance

On Tuesday, November 26, Svetlana Balakhtina, head of the department for the development of loyalty service "Apelsin", named ways to save money on the purchase of a MTPL policy.
According to the expert, one of the most effective ways to reduce the cost of MTPL is accident-free driving. She specified that the less a person gets into accidents and other incidents, the less his bonus-malus coefficient (KBM), which depends on the number of indemnities paid for accidents in which the motorist was the culprit.
"Each year of accident-free driving can reduce the cost of your policy by 5-10%. Make sure that your KBM is taken into account correctly," Balakhtina told Lenta.Ru.
Balakhtina recommended to choose the option where the only driver will be specified. The more drivers drive the car, the higher the risk of accidents, which leads to an increase in the cost of the policy, she explained.
The financial expert added that experienced drivers, in order to save money, should avoid including newcomers in MTPL insurance, which increases the risk of accidents and, consequently, increases the cost of the policy.
You can also save money with the help of services and loyalty programs that return part of the cost of MTPL insurance with a cashback, she said. To do this, you should follow the promotions.
The day before it became known that the State Duma intends to increase the maximum fine for driving a vehicle without a MTPL policy six times - from 800 to 5 thousand rubles, reports NSN.

If the document is adopted, the amount of the fine will approach the average cost of the policy (about Br7 .65 thousand), reports 360.ru.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, violations under Article 12.37 of the CAO are among the three most common, recorded by inspectors. In 2023, more than 2 million rulings were issued under this article. According to estimates of the Russian Union of Auto Insurers (RUIA), 7-10% of Russian drivers (from 2.5 million to 3.6 million people) drive without CMTPL insurance, RT reports.
Earlier in the day it was reported that the State Duma proposed to raise the upper threshold of insurance payments under MTPL in case of road accidents. The bill was prepared by deputies from the LDPR faction headed by the chairman of the Committee on Labor and Social Policy Yaroslav Nilov.
