AvtoVAZ starts production of "Niva" with airbags

AvtoVAZ resumed production of Lada Niva Travel cars with airbags and ERA-GLONASS emergency call system. Also SUVs were equipped with a new steering wheel. This is stated in the company's message, which was received by Izvestia on November 26.

Driver's frontal airbag and emergency call system are installed on all Niva Travel from the basic version Classic, which costs from 1.33 million rubles. In Comfort (from 1.54 million rubles) and above the cars are additionally equipped with a passenger frontal airbag.

In June, the head of AvtoVAZ Maxim Sokolov said that this year the frontal airbag for the driver will appear on the classic SUVs Lada Niva Legend.

November 22, the head of AvtoVAZ said that the automaker does not plan to install an automatic transmission on the SUVs of the "Niva" family. Technically, it is possible to equip "Niva" with such a transmission, but such a modification will not be in demand among buyers, said the domestic car company.

November 8, Vice President for Sales and Marketing of AvtoVAZ Dmitry Kostromin said that the company has no plans to develop and produce a new generation of Lada Niva SUV.
