The Professionals championship final is the country's largest event in the field of secondary vocational education, said St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov.

"Our city is honored to host Russia's best young professionals for the second time," he noted.

The final competitions started on Tuesday, November 26. This year more than 800 people from Russia and other countries are taking part in them, including 48 -- from St. Petersburg. Schoolchildren and young specialists will demonstrate their skills in 55 competences of the main category and in 20 junior ones.

According to Beglov, the fact that St. Petersburg has been chosen again to host the final of the championship confirms the importance of the city as a center of training for industry. "The championship also allows the city to adjust the system of professional education in accordance with the requirements of the economy," the governor emphasized.

For the participants of the finals, in particular, a business program consisting of three thematic days has been prepared: Youth Day, Competence Day and Secondary Vocational Education Day.

The Championship is held within the framework of the federal project "Professionalism" with the support of the Russian Government, the Ministry of Education of Russia and the administration of St. Petersburg.
