Court arrests journalist from France in absentia for infiltrating Kursk region


Leninsky district court of Kursk decided to arrest in absentia a representative of the French media, Catherine Norris Trent, who illegally entered the territory of Kursk region. This was reported on November 26 in the Telegram-channel of the joint press service of the judicial system of the region.
It is noted that the journalist of the French TV channel France 24 together with unidentified persons entered the territory of Sujansky district of the region.
As adds "Gazeta.Ru", Trent crossed the border in a vehicle of the Armed forces of Ukraine (AFU) to shoot a report.
The journalist is also on a federal, interstate and international wanted list.
"Charged in absentia with committing a crime under part 3 of article 322 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal crossing of the state border of the Russian Federation")", - stated in the message of the press service.
The court chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to five years.
Earlier, October 7, the Public Relations Center of the Federal Security Service of Russia reported that since August 17, criminal cases on the fact of illegal crossing of the Russian border were initiated against 14 foreign journalists.
In particular, journalists of the Swiss publishing holding SN Media Kurt Pelda and French TV channel France 24 Catherine Norris Trent, who illegally crossed the Russian state border in Kursk region, became new defendants in the cases.
Ukrainian militants attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The operation to destroy the enemy continues.
