Human rights activist Maria Kannabikh has died

Human rights activist Maria Kannabikh died at the age of 76. This was reported by a source of "Izvestia" on November 26.

Kannabikh died in her home in Istra near Moscow.

Maria Kannabikh was a member of the Moscow City Public Advisory Council, in different years was a member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, the Human Rights Council (HRC) under the President of the Russian Federation and the "Council of Public Supervisory Commissions".

The human rights activist has been honored with the gratitude of the President of Russia, the medal "In memory of the 850th anniversary of Moscow", and awards from the Federal Penitentiary Service.
