Francois Asselino, head of the French People's Republican Union party, has demanded a vote of no confidence in Prime Minister Michel Barnier's government for its bellicose stance against Russia. He said this in a video published on the party's official YouTube channel.

Asselino appealed to the leader of France's Rassemblement Nationale party Marine Le Pen and the French in general for the two parties to submit a motion of no confidence in the government over foreign policy and actions against Russia.

He emphasized that this topic is very important because there is a danger of a third world war.

The head of the French People's Republican Union party said that French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot is incompetent and intends to drag the country into a direct conflict with Russia.

"It is necessary for the French to say 'no'. And since they can't say it (directly. - Ed.), it must be done by the deputies. Therefore, I demand from Mrs. Le Pen and from the leadership of the New Popular Front to make a motion of no confidence in the government in the coming days," he said.

Earlier in the day, the leader of the French Patriots party Florian Philippot said that French President Emmanuel Macron would be a traitor to his country if he sent troops to Ukraine. At the same time, Macron has repeatedly said that he does not rule out the possible dispatch of the military. Back in May, he said that the conditions for this would be a request from Kiev or a breakthrough of Russian troops at the front.

The day before, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said in an interview with the BBC that Ukraine could launch French SCALP long-range missiles at Russia. Asked whether this could mean the participation of French troops in hostilities, he said that no option could be ruled out. Dmitry Belik, a State Duma deputy from Sevastopol and a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, said Barro's statement was "an act of aggression."

Before that, on November 19, the French newspaper Le Monde reported that France had a limited number of long-range SCALP surface-to-air missiles for delivery to Ukraine. According to the newspaper, France provided only 10 missiles out of 40 declared missiles. At the same time, French President Emmanuel Macron praised the decision of the US authorities to allow Ukraine to use long-range missiles to strike Russia.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to defend Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022. The decision to conduct it was taken by Russia because of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
