Regions may conclude agreements on stabilization of prices for all goods. The corresponding changes have been introduced in the decree of the Russian government, the press service of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) reported on November 26.

"Prior to the amendments, regional government bodies were empowered to conclude agreements with business entities on price stabilization only for food products from the list of socially important ones. At the moment such temporary agreements are in force in 36 regions. They are concluded with 12,814 economic entities, including 86 producers, 30 wholesale suppliers and 12,698 retail trade organizations," they explained.

The service clarified that the document now gives regional authorities the opportunity, if necessary, to conclude such agreements in respect of any food and non-food products, except for those for which the state regulation of prices has been introduced.

The agency believes that the implementation of the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation, taking into account the changes will contribute to improving the availability of goods for Russians.

Earlier, on October 31, it was reported that Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev instructed to monitor the food market on a daily basis. He also noted that the mass harvest in Russia is being completed, and Russians will be provided with the necessary food. In addition, the indicators of animal husbandry, food and processing industry in the country are stable.
