The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rejected the appeal of Russian biathlete Evgeny Ustyugov, leaving in force the deprivation of his gold and bronze medals of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver for violation of anti-doping rules. This is reported on Tuesday, November 26, on the website of the independent disciplinary body Biathlon Integrity Unit.

It is noted that Ustyugov's appeal was rejected because of detected anomalies in the biological passport, confirming the validity of the previous decision on disqualification.

Ustyugov was disqualified for four years for violation of anti-doping rules. All his results from 2010 to 2014, including at the Olympic Games, canceled. It is noted that the athlete can appeal the decision to the Federal Tribunal of Switzerland, but only on procedural issues.

Earlier, on September 3, it was reported that CAS deprived Russian track and field athlete Tatiana Tomashova of the silver medal of the Olympic Games in 2012 in the 1500 m race. The decision was made because of numerous violations of anti-doping rules in 2012. In this regard, the athlete's results from June 21 2012 to January 3, 2015 were annulled.
