Russia is the world's third largest food supplier in terms of the volume of products sold. This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Oksana Lut on November 26.

"In tonnage we are the third supplier of food in the world, if in money it is not so, then in tonnage, <...> and thus Russia makes a significant contribution to food security not only in our country, but in principle in the whole world," - said the head of the Ministry of Agriculture at the International Forum of the Finance University.

She noted that Russia has always been a "grain country," and now thanks to technological advances can produce even more food products.

Luth pointed out that the Ministry of Agriculture has many plans for the development of agriculture and food industry, for example, there are issues of robotization and increasing productivity. The latter should grow by 25% in the next six years, according to the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Minister expressed confidence that the agro-industrial complex of the country will cope with this task.

On the eve of November 25, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev noted that Russia is a leading supplier of many food products to world markets. In addition, the state actively participates in a large number of international humanitarian programs, and this contributes to the achievement of global food security.

Prior to that, on November 7, Lut said that Russian agrarians have harvested 128 million tons of grain, while the country's domestic demand is only 87 million tons - it is fully met. In addition, it is expected that this year the Russian Federation will harvest 1.2 million tons of rice, and will break the record for the harvest of this crop, set in 2020 - then harvested 1.1 million tons.
