- Experts and residents discussed the prospects for demographic development of Nizhny Novgorod Region

A strategic session dedicated to the demographic policy of Nizhny Novgorod Region was held within the framework of the International Forum for Sustainable Development "SO.KNOWLEDGE". The event was attended by representatives of the authorities, business, scientific community and residents of the region.
In the course of the discussion, the participants discussed the current demographic challenges: declining birth rate, migration processes and population aging. According to experts, in general, these trends are typical for many Russian regions, but Nizhny Novgorod Region has its own peculiarities.
Among other things, innovative potential and the impact of modern technologies on demographic processes were discussed. For example, speaker Alexander Belyaev spoke about the impact of artificial intelligence on social trends and demographic development.
The participants of the strategic session also developed a number of proposals to improve the demographic situation in the region. Among the key areas are the age of birth of the first child; incentives for the birth of the first, second and subsequent children; ensuring quality inbound migration; and responsible employers.
It is expected that the initiatives proposed during the strategic session will be taken into account when drafting the strategy of demographic development of the region, which will become the basis for the implementation of demographic policy in the Nizhny Novgorod region in the coming years.
The event was organized by the Autonomous Nonprofit Organization "Institute for Demographic Development".
"On the instructions of the Governor, we are working on the strategy of demographic development of the Nizhny Novgorod region. In this issue it is important to take into account the points of view of the region's residents and opinion leaders," said Evgeny Zhuravlev, head of the Institute.
