Peskov assessed media reports about the desire of a US investor to buy Nord Stream-2

The Kremlin has not heard of any plans by the shareholders of Nord Stream-2 or the Russian side, represented by Gazprom, to put the pipeline up for auction. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on November 26.
Earlier, on November 21, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that U.S. investor Stephen Lynch wants to buy Nord Stream-2 if it is put up for auction as part of bankruptcy proceedings in Switzerland.
"I have not heard that the shareholders are all in favor of putting this piece of critical infrastructure up for auction. Nor have I heard that the Russian side, represented by Gazprom, would like to sell it. <...> I am also not aware of Gazprom's desire to give gas transportation instruments into the hands of the United States," Peskov said.
He added that Nord Stream-2 does not need to be restored, it can be started to be used instantly. The Kremlin spokesman noted that Germany's unwillingness to be guided by economic interests is perplexing: it could use this pipeline to provide its citizens and industry with fuel, but Germany prefers to buy energy resources at a higher price from other sources.
Earlier, on November 22, Igor Ananskikh, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Energy, expressed doubts that Nord Stream-2 could be sold to a private party, especially considering that the pipeline is owned not by Gazprom alone, but by a consortium of companies. The deputy noted that Lynch's interest in the purchase shows how much Nord Stream-2 is in demand in Europe.
Der Spiegel magazine reported on November 21 that the SP pipeline was blown up by a group of Ukrainians and some of them had previous ties to the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The cost of the bombing operation amounted to up to $300,000.
Prior to that, on September 25, the German government confirmed that several arrest warrants had been issued during the investigation into the JV bombings. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on September 8 that the country would make every effort to investigate and called for an unbiased investigation. The Kremlin agreed with the call, but Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed to the importance of information sharing instead of leaks.
Leaks at Nord Streams in the Baltic Sea were discovered in September 2022. Two powerful underwater explosions were registered on the pipelines. Traces of explosives were found at the accident site. Russia is seeking an international investigation into the terrorist attacks. In February 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson that the CIA was responsible for the explosions.
