NATO is accelerating its penetration into the Arctic and Baltic regions. This was stated by Director of the Russian Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov on November 26 at the 20th session of the Meeting of the Heads of Security and Intelligence Services of the CIS member states in Moscow.

In addition, the alliance is trying to expand its combat capabilities in the Black Sea and gain access to the Caspian Sea, he pointed out.

"The alliance is gaining a foothold on the borders of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, accelerating its penetration into the Arctic and Baltic regions, seeking to expand combat, intelligence and logistics capabilities in the Black Sea, seeking ways to gain access to the Caspian Sea," the FSB director said.

He stated that the military threat from NATO is steadily increasing. Under the guise of countering some "biological threats," Bortnikov continued, a network of U.S. laboratories is implementing programs to create biological weapons of selective action.

Earlier, on November 13, it became known about the official opening of a U.S. missile defense base in Poland. The same day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called it an attempt to contain Russia's capabilities. He noted that such actions are a confirmation that Russian President Vladimir Putin is right about the plans that continue to be implemented.

Putin, speaking at the plenary session of the Valdai Club on November 7, called NATO the only remaining bloc in the world and a "blatant anachronism." He noted that the alliance, which has lost relevance, violates international norms and its own principles.

The West regularly stirs up hysteria among the citizens of its countries, warning of an allegedly imminent war with Russia. The Russian leader has repeatedly stated that nothing of the sort is in the country's plans.
