Bortnitkov pointed to Biden's goal to worsen the situation in Eurasia to spite Trump

The outgoing team of US President Joe Biden will try to worsen the situation in Eurasia as much as possible in order to make it difficult for the future administration to find a political solution to the accumulated problems. This statement was made on November 26 by Director of the Russian Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov.
"It is not excluded that the outgoing Biden team within the framework of the internal political struggle will try to maximally aggravate the situation in the key regions of Eurasia for the Americans. <...> The main goal is to make it difficult for the new administration to find potential opportunities for a political solution to the accumulated problems," he said at a meeting of heads of security agencies and intelligence services of the CIS countries in Moscow.
The FSB director specified that the first step has already been taken: Kiev has been authorized to strike deep into Russia with long-range missiles.
Bortnikov also urged to be ready for provocations from the US, UK and their allies. According to his assessment, the West will continue attempts to "rudely interfere in allied relations within the CIS" and will also seek to harm the security and stability of the Commonwealth.
On the eve, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that long-range missile strikes deep inside Russia by the West violate all possible "red lines." He also said that Russian President Vladimir Putin made his position clear during the approval of the new framework for nuclear deterrence.
Putin approved the updated nuclear doctrine on November 19. It includes the amendments announced in September. In particular, for the first time a definition of a potential adversary against whom the Russian Federation conducts nuclear deterrence is introduced.Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov specified that the measure brings the norms in this sphere in line with the current situation.
The special operation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
