Putin urged not to allow destabilization of the situation in the CIS space

It is necessary to prevent destabilization of the situation in the CIS space. This was stated on Tuesday, November 26, in the address of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the 20th session of the Meeting of Heads of Security Agencies and Intelligence Services of the CIS member states.

The greeting of the head of state was read out by Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) of the Russian Federation Sergei Naryshkin.

"Today, in difficult geopolitical conditions, your constructive interaction is especially important," the president said.

The Russian leader said that in order to maintain a stable situation in the region, it is necessary to identify and analyze threats to collective security, exchange information and experience.

The President noted the importance of annual meetings of the heads of the CIS special services to discuss current security threats and develop joint solutions, emphasizing the significance of the current meeting for strengthening cooperation in this matter among the CIS countries.

During the same meeting, Director of the Russian Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov pointed to the expansion of NATO's combat capabilities. Mr. Bortnikov noted that the alliance is accelerating its penetration into the Arctic and Baltic regions and the threat to security from its side is steadily growing.

Earlier, November 12, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov said that taking into account the situation in the world, the military departments of the CIS countries should direct the vector of cooperation to building security in Eurasia. He noted that the Russian representation in the CIS Council of Defense Ministers in 2024 is focused on ensuring regional security.

Prior to that, on November 7, Putin said in his address to the participants of the 12th meeting of the secretaries of the security councils of the CIS member states that the situation in the world is far from stable and that it is important for the CIS countries to use the analytical and forecasting potential of their agencies to identify threats.
