In the Novosibirsk region, a woman who killed a child was given 2.5 years in prison

The court in the Novosibirsk region sentenced a woman to 2.5 years in prison for the murder of a newborn girl. This was reported on November 26 in the regional Department of the Investigative Committee (IC) in Telegram.

It is specified that 34-year-old resident of Bolotninsky district was found guilty of committing a crime under Art. 106 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder by the mother of a newborn child").

According to the investigation, in late February 2024, the woman gave birth at home, after which she placed the baby in a bucket, took it to an unheated veranda and left it there. The girl's body was not discovered until two weeks later.

"The court found the defendant guilty and imposed a sentence of 2 years 6 months of imprisonment with serving in a colony of settlement", - concluded in the department.

Earlier, on November 19, it was reported that in the Moscow region Ivanteevka woman gave birth to a daughter in the toilet and left her there. A criminal case under a similar article has been instituted. The woman faces up to four years in prison.
