The Russian army has advanced in the Kupyansk section of the military operations in Kharkiv Region. This was reported on November 26 by military expert, retired lieutenant colonel of the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR) Andriy Marochko.

"In the Kupyansk direction, the RF Armed Forces continue to push through the enemy's defense and improve their tactical position. In the course of active liberation actions our troops have taken more favorable positions west of Myasyutovka. There are urban battles in Kupyansk itself," he told RIA Novosti.

Marochko also informed that northwest of Tabayevka Russian servicemen managed to cut into the enemy's defense. In addition, near Stelmakhovka, Russian troops knocked out Ukrainian militants from a stronghold, and south of Kupyansk, the Russian army has success from Senkovo towards Glushkovka and Zagryzovo.

According to the former lieutenant colonel, despite the Ukrainian counterattacks, the Russian Armed Forces continue to hold the previously occupied lines.

Earlier, on November 23, Marochko called Kupyansk the most tense point on the map of military operations. Marochko noted that fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) continue to strike the territories over which they have lost control "just to destroy." The military expert pointed to the low effectiveness of such attacks against the AFU fighters.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
