Moscow residents were offered to choose a name for a baby hyena cub

Participants of the project "Active Citizen" were offered to choose a name for the cub of the red-brown hyena from the Moscow Zoo. This was reported on November 25 by the press service of the Department of Culture of the capital.

The animal was born in the summer of this year. Recently he turned four months old. He already weighs 7 kg. The baby is active, loves to play, happily tries adult food and already recognizes the zoologists caring for him, reports "Moscow 24".

Zoologists offered the citizens to choose five variants of the name - Olaf, Lel, Akela, Vzhik and Lyubich, notes the agency of city news "Moscow".

For the first time brown hyenas appeared in the capital's zoo in 2023. Animals of this species usually live in the desert parts of the coastal zones of South Africa, clarifies the website kp.ru.

Currently, Muscovites are actively involved in choosing names for animals through the platform "Active Citizen", reminds RIAMO. Thanks to this initiative, 16 pets of the Moscow Zoo have already received their names, notes Life.ru. Among them - a tiger named Amur, a panda Katyusha and a pair of alpacas - Shokoladka and Chernichka.

On November 24, a giant octopus appeared in the Moscow Zoo. The octopus arrived to the zoo from the Primorsky Krai, after quarantine it was placed in the pavilion "Exotarium". It is noted that a male individual was brought to the capital.
