Canada is set to increase military spending during Trump's presidency

The Canadian authorities are ready to increase defense spending in order to more quickly reach the NATO-compliant level of military indicators in cooperation with the administration of the elected President of the United States Donald Trump. This was announced on November 25 by Canadian Minister of National Defense William Blair at a conference at the Canadian Institute of International Affairs in Ottawa.
The head of the Ministry of Defense said on the air of the CTV channel about the intention to work with the new American administration and the military-industrial complex (MIC) of the United States to reach the NATO standards for defense spending at the rate of 2% of GDP earlier than 2032, as "it is too long" to realize this goal.
Earlier on November 22, Canada confirmed the delivery of NASAMS anti-aircraft systems (NASAMS) to Ukraine. Blair said that the Canadian government understands the need to increase defense spending and aid to Ukraine, but this requires guarantees of a "good return" on investment.
Prior to that, on November 18, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that at the G20 summit he would try to convince the allies of the need to grant Ukraine full NATO membership.
On November 6, Trudeau held a telephone conversation with Donald Trump, who won the election of the US leader, congratulated the president-elect on his second term and discussed with him bilateral relations between Canada and the United States.
