On November 25, Igor Grosu, chairman of the Moldovan Parliament and head of the ruling Party of Action and Solidarity, said that social networks should be restricted against the backdrop of the presidential elections in Romania, where the leader of the first round was politician Calin Georgescu, who gained popularity through a platform such as TikTok.

According to Grosu, social networks are now being used to interfere in democratic processes and manipulate. He also noted that he did not rule out the possibility of blocking TikTok. The politician said that such restrictions should be adopted at the EU level.

"His (Georgescu. - Ed.) victory raises many questions and concerns. No campaign spending, ignoring televised debates and an aggressive presence on TikTok. It jumped out like a magician's hat. It is still necessary to understand who is behind him," Moldpress quoted the parliamentarian as saying.

Earlier in the day, the media reported about the leadership of independent candidate Calin Georgescu in the Romanian presidential election. According to the data of processing 98.7% of votes, Georgescu gained 22.65% of votes, while his rival, Romanian Prime Minister and head of the Social Democratic Party Marcel Ciolacu - 19.46%.

On November 25, Ruslan Andreev, an expert of the Polylog Group, told Izvestiya that the victory of independent candidate Calin Geor gescu in the first round of the presidential election in Romania could harm Ukraine for a number of reasons.

Before that, on October 6, the Romanian Supreme Court excluded far-right politician Diana Shoshoake from the list of candidates in the presidential election without explaining the reasons. Politicians from different circles called this court ruling an unprecedented threat to legal values.
