The staff of US President-elect Donald Trump welcomed the decision of Special Prosecutor Jack Smith, who asked the court to stop investigating the criminal case against the Republican. This was stated by the representative of the Trump transition team Stephen Cheung on November 25.

"Today's decision by the Justice Department ends the unconstitutional federal cases against President Trump," Cheung told NBC News.

He also called it a "major victory for the rule of law" and noted that the Republican favored ending the use of the USA justice system "as a political weapon".

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, in turn, noted that American justice demonstrates its impartiality exactly once every four years.

Earlier, on November 11, the newspaper Politico reported that employees of the U.S. Department of Justice are afraid of Trump's revenge after the initiation of criminal cases against him. The agency fears that Trump will want to transform the Ministry in accordance with his representations.

On November 7, it became known that Prosecutor Smith is considering closing criminal cases against Trump. Smith is prosecuting two cases against the elected head of the White House. In the first, the former President is accused of interference in the 2020 elections, in the second - in improper handling of classified documents.

The election of the 47th president of the United States took place on November 5. In the national vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while the candidate from the Democrats Kamala Harris received 47.4%. Later, the politician, speaking to supporters, called himself the 47th President of the United States and said that his goal as head of state considers the end of military conflicts in the world. The Republican promised that his rule would be a "truly golden era" in the history of the United States.
