Coins from the time of the Holy Roman Empire were found in Poland


In Poland, treasure hunters have discovered rare coins from the times of the Holy Roman Empire, the value of which can be estimated at about 500 thousand zlotys (about 12 million rubles). This was reported on Monday, November 25, Newsweek portal.
Archaeologists were trying to find in the place of discovery of coins traces of the ancient Roman road, when helping them treasure hunters Slawomir and Szymon Milewski stumbled upon a cache.
According to archaeologist Piotr Duda, for Poland, this is the largest find of this kind. As specified by the publication, the coins were minted in the XVI and XVII centuries and are extremely rare. One of them is a silver thaler with the image of King Sigismund III of Poland.
A similar coin, but in worse condition, in 2023 sold at auction for 86 thousand zlotys (about Br2 million).
Earlier, on November 14, in Turkey gravediggers found an ancient jug with 1 thousand coins. An unusual find was discovered during the preparation of the place for burial. About the found immediately reported to the police and historians from the local museum. They said that they intend to thoroughly study the treasure to establish in what century the coins and the jug were issued.
