- The Ministry of Industry and Trade announced the finalization of SSJ-100 landing gear designs

Based on the results of investigations by the commission of the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) of the accident in Yakutsk in 2018, the developer and manufacturer of SSJ-100 aircraft has been recommended to finalize the existing landing gear design taking into account the forecast assessment of the risks of operating machines of this type, the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade told Izvestia.
"The commission's recommendations have been worked out by the developer. After passing the necessary tests, the design solutions will be implemented on new Superjet 100 aircraft. After that, a service bulletin will be issued to finalize the flying fleet," the ministry said.
On October 10, 2018, at Yakutsk airport after landing the SSJ-100 of Yakutia Airlines during braking and taxiing, the plane rolled out of the runway and when hitting the curb, broke off the main landing gear struts, which damaged the fuel tanks. Kerosene began to leak and there was a serious fire hazard. On board the aircraft were two flight crew members, three cabin crew members and 87 passengers. As a result of the accident, four passengers suffered minor injuries, the crew was not injured.
The story of another Aeroflot SSJ-100 that happened in May 2019 is much sadder. Then during a rough landing and subsequent "goose-stepping" Aeroflot's SSJ-100 damaged the landing gear and fuel tank, which caused the airliner to catch fire. According to Russia's Investigative Committee, 73 passengers and five crew members were on board, of whom 41 died.
The third incident with a fuel tank puncture occurred on November 24, 2024 at Antalya airport. The aircraft SSJ-100, Azimut Airlines after a flight from Sochi made a rough landing during landing in unfavorable weather conditions, resulting in landing gear failure and fire due to fuel spillage. There were 89 passengers and six crew members on board. By happy coincidence, no one was injured.
