Asteroid 2024 PT5, which was also called the second moon, began to move away from the Earth and until 2055 may disappear. This was reported by The Guardian on November 25.

The asteroid will then be pulled deeply into outer space by the Sun's gravity. The next visit of the asteroid will happen in 2055, specifies "Gazeta.Ru".

MV Keldysh RAS Leonid Elenin shared with "Izvestia" calculations of scientists, according to which the asteroid 2024 PT5 will remain near-Earth and from time to time will approach the Earth. Then he also specified that from January 2025 it is planned to study the space body with the help of radar.

Before that Elenin told "Izvestia" that the asteroid 2024 PT5 will not have any impact on the Earth, as its size does not exceed 10 meters and the mass is too negligible to affect the planet. He explained that due to its small size and remoteness, it can only be seen in Earth orbit with the help of a powerful telescope.

According to the scientist, such cosmic bodies are interesting to astronomers as an example of unusual low-energy approaches, during which the Earth can capture distant objects. The planet is considered relatively small, so the attraction of an asteroid by its gravitational field - a possible, but unlikely event.
