After the refusal of Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz from the position of Secretary of Justice and Attorney General offered to him by President-elect Donald Trump, the current employees of the Ministry "breathed a sigh of relief". On November 25, the American magazine Time reported that.

"For the moment, it seems that the lifetime members of the ministry of justice have been spared having to work under the command of a complete rookie whose main talent was to stay in Trump's good graces. Their colleagues in the government may not get a similar reprieve," the publication said.

According to the piece, one prosecutor commented on Goetz's voluntary departure as "avoiding disaster," while another called it lucky.

The material notes that the future head of the White House in choosing the administration is guided not by the specific knowledge or skills of candidates, but by the atmosphere that they can create around them on television.

On November 21, Goetz withdrew his candidacy from consideration for the post of attorney general and head of the Department of Justice of America. The congressman said his confirmation would have been a "distraction" to the important work of Trump's transition team. In place of Gaetz , Trump nominated former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Earlier, on November 13, former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, whose resignation the congressman initiated last year, said in an interview with Bloomberg that the U.S. Senate would not confirm Goetz's nomination to head the Justice Department.

Before that, on the same day, the future U.S. leader nominated Goetz to head the Justice Department. He said the congressman has distinguished himself positively by focusing on much-needed reform at the Justice Department. The Florida Republican is an active Trump supporter and one of his staunchest allies.
