The US long-range missiles JASSM planned to be delivered to Ukraine will not help Kiev to turn the situation in its favor. Oleg Glazunov, a military expert and associate professor of the Department of Political Analysis and Social and Psychological Processes at the Plekhanov Russian Economic University, expressed this opinion on Monday, November 25.

Earlier in the day, Irish journalist Chay Bose said on social network X (former Twitter) that US President Joe Biden intends to transfer American long-range cruise missiles JASSM to the Kiev regime out of revenge, according to the website kp.ru.

"These missiles may be comparable to ATACMS, but they still won't be enough. It will not be millions of missiles, but a number insufficient to inflict significant damage capable of turning the situation on the front," Glazunov said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru.

According to the military expert, it is extremely important for the outgoing Biden administration to transfer as many weapons as possible to Ukraine before Trump's arrival in order to fulfill the only task - to inflict as much damage to Russia as possible.

At the same time, Glazunov stressed that Russia possesses modern air defense systems capable of responding to such threats, and most of these missiles will be shot down before they arrive.

On the eve, Mikhail Sheremet, a Duma deputy from the Crimean region and a member of the security committee, said that the US risks "going down a slippery slope" if it approves the delivery of new JASSM cruise missiles to Ukraine, RT reported.

He specified that this way Biden is trying to provoke Russia and escalate the conflict as much as possible, 360.ru reported.

He also noted that the delivery of these missiles will not affect the course of the special military operation (SMO) and will not help the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to improve their positions.

Earlier, on September 3, Reuters quoted US officials as saying that the USA was close to an agreement on the transfer of long-range JASSM missiles to Ukraine, but it might take several months to resolve technical issues regarding their delivery. According to the agency, the inclusion of JASSM air-to-surface cruise missiles in the arms package for Kiev will be announced this fall. However, the final decision has not been made yet.

Meanwhile, on November 14, Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said that the USA intended to supply Ukraine with all the weapons promised by Biden before he leaves office.

On November 13, White House adviser Jake Sullivan said that Biden would ask Congress for additional funds to support Ukraine before leaving office.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022. The decision to conduct it was made by the Russian president because of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
