- The court rejected gallery owner Gelman's appeal against violation of the law on foreign agents

Moscow City Court has rejected the appeal of gallery owner Marat Gelman (recognized in Russia as a foreign agent, included in the list of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring), who disagreed with the fact that he violated the procedure for the activities of a foreign agent. This is stated on November 25 in the case card on the website of the capital's courts of general jurisdiction.
"Leave the ruling (decision) unchanged, and the complaint/protest without satisfaction," it noted there.
Gelman filed an appeal in October. He tried to appeal against a fine of Br40 thousand for the absence of a foreign agent's plaque. A protocol on administrative offense was issued to him under Part 4 of Article 19.34 of the Administrative Code ("Violation of the order of a foreign agent").
Marat Gelman is a Russian collector and publicist. In 2009, he founded the PERMM Museum in Perm and ran it until 2013. Since 2014, he has been living abroad.
Earlier, on November 21, searches were conducted in Perm's PERMM Museum of Contemporary Art in the Gelman case. According to the source of "Izvestia", law enforcement activities are related to the case of terrorism. Also searches took place at the homes of the museum's director Naila Allakhverdiyeva and her commercial partners.
At the end of 2021, the Russian Ministry of Justice included Gelman and seven other people in the register of foreign agents. Later, in December 2022, the Russian Interior Ministry put him on a criminal wanted list. In February 2024, he organized a congress of foreign agents in Berlin, which was held under the slogan "Sparks of rebellion from abroad".
