The Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea has recognized the right of Crimeans to compensation for moral damage as a result of Ukraine's energy blockade of the peninsula. This was announced by the chairman of the State Council of the republic, Vladimir Konstantinov, in his Telegram channel on November 25.
He specified that the Supreme court thus fulfilled the requirements of the Public chamber of the Republic and from Ukraine in favor of the Crimeans are going to recover more than 3 trillion 448 billion rubles.
"At the same time, the residents of the republic can apply to the court for compensation for moral damage suffered as a result of the energy blockade," Konstantinov said, adding that it will no longer be necessary to prove the fact of the blockade.
The Chairman of the State Council of the Republic noted that a positive decision of the court is of great importance.
Earlier, in February 2024, the co-chairman of the special working group, head of the Crimean parliament's legislative committee, Sergei Trofimov, said that the damage caused by Ukraine to the Crimean budget by the blockade in the energy sector exceeded 3 trillion rubles.
In October 2023, the Arbitration Court of Crimea decided to recover more than 152 billion rubles from Ukraine for the damage caused by the water blockade of the peninsula. The plaintiff in the case was the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea.
In the summer of 2022 in the Kherson region restored the blown up electric poles, the last blockade, the energy blockade, in relation to Crimea was overcome.
Ukraine started the energy blockade of Crimea in November 2015. All four power transmission lines coming from the side of the republic were out of operation due to the explosion of supports. A state of emergency was declared on the peninsula, but the situation improved after the launch of an 800 MW energy bridge from the Krasnodar region.
In 2019, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched the Balaklava and Tavricheskaya TPPs in Crimea at full capacity during an official ceremony.
