As a result of the sinking of a yacht near the Egyptian city of Marsa-el-Alam 17 people are missing. About it on November 25 reports the BBC with reference to the Egyptian authorities.

"Egyptian authorities say 28 people have been rescued and 17 are missing after a tourist boat sank in the Red Sea," the material says.

Major General Amr Hanafi, governor of the Red Sea province, said the survivors were found south of the city, in the Wadi al-Gemal area. They are receiving the necessary medical care.

In addition, he specified that the Egyptian Navy and military aviation are intensifying measures to search for the missing.

The yacht sank earlier in the day. There were 31 tourists and 14 crew members on board. The Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Hurghada reported that there were no Russians among the passengers.

Earlier, on October 1, Taiwanese rescuers evacuated 19 sailors, including three Russians, from the sinking cargo ship near Lanyu Island. The bulk carrier Blue Lagoon was traveling under the flag of Barbados. The crew discovered a leak in the engine compartment 18 miles from shore and decided to abandon ship.
