Media learned of Germany's plan to expand its bomb shelter network

German authorities are developing a national plan to expand the area of bomb shelters for the civilian population by retrofitting public buildings and private structures. This was reported on November 25 in the official Telegram channel "Bild in Russian" (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation)
It is specified that since 2007 in the FRG began a phased dismantling of bunkers. It was assumed that they would no longer be needed. The publication has learned that now in Germany there are only 579 public shelters designed for 480 thousand people.
The Federal Office for Population Protection and Disaster Management (BBK) and regional authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany intend to ensure the safety of citizens.
The authorities' plan provides that all suitable public places will be used as defense facilities for the civilian population: subway stations, city administrations, office buildings and private homes.
Citizens will be encouraged to set up temporary shelters in their homes, such as modernizing a basement or garage to use as bunkers.
It is also planned to create an application for mobile devices - it will display the nearest bomb shelter.
Earlier, on November 22, the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) reported that the German authorities have begun preparations for a large-scale conflict with Russia. The publication referred to the "German Operational Plan," a 100-page document that contains a list of "buildings and infrastructure that are in particular need of protection for military reasons."
On November 6, the candidate for the post of the first-ever EU defense commissioner, former Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius, called his main task preparation for a possible conflict with Russia. He also said that, according to certain intelligence reports, Russia could allegedly test the resolve of NATO and the EU near the end of this decade.
The West regularly stokes hysteria among its citizens by warning of an allegedly imminent war with Russia. Back in March, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that the country was not going to go to war with NATO and called such fears nonsense. He pointed out that it was the alliance that came close to the borders of Russia, which did not move to the borders of the bloc's countries.
