All five people who were hit by a car on the sidewalk in Chelyabinsk are hospitalized, among them there is a child aged 11 months. This was reported on November 25 by the Governor of the Chelyabinsk region Alexei Teksler.
"According to the information of the regional Ministry of health, five people were injured, including an eleven-month-old baby. All are hospitalized. Preliminary, one of the injured adults is in serious condition. We will definitely provide all the necessary assistance," Teksler wrote in his Telegram channel.
The governor called the accident an egregious incident and recalled that its culprit did not try to slow down and fled the scene. Preliminary, the driver was drunk.
The head of the region noted that a criminal case will be initiated on the fact of hitting pedestrians, and expressed confidence that the man behind the wheel will be strictly punished by law.
The driver hit five pedestrians on the sidewalk at the intersection of Kashirinykh Brothers and Chicherina streets in Chelyabinsk earlier in the day. Russian Interior Ministry spokeswoman Irina Volk said the culprit had been detained. In the footage from the scene, a black car at high speed flew out onto the sidewalk and crashed into a group of people who were standing at the crosswalk and waiting for a green traffic signal. The driver immediately left the scene.
