Yacht carrying more than 30 tourists sank in Egypt


A yacht with 31 tourists on board sank near the Egyptian city of Marsa El Alam, some of them were found alive, the search for the rest continues. This was reported on November 25 by the newspaper Youm7 with reference to local authorities.
In a statement, the Red Sea administration confirmed that the ship had tentatively sunk in the Shaab Sataieh area, north of the city. According to it, the sinking of the Sea Story yacht was reported at 5:30 am (6:30 Moscow time). In addition to tourists on board were 14 crew members.
As clarified "RIA Novosti" in the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Hurghada, there were no Russians on board.
"The owner of the yacht reported that there were no Russians among the tourists and crew members on board the ship," the agency quotes the words of consul general Viktor Voropayev.
Rescue teams using a helicopter and naval frigate "Al-Fateh" are working at the site of the disaster.
Earlier, October 1, it was reported that Taiwanese rescuers evacuated 19 sailors, including three Russians, from a sinking cargo ship near Lanyu Island. The bulk carrier Blue Lagoon was traveling under the flag of Barbados. The crew discovered a leak in the engine compartment 18 miles from shore and decided to abandon ship.
